DISCUSSION:
- Here we go again! Have you spotted the
problem? Look at lobe #3, the orange curve with
small squares. Ah, now you see it. Yeah,
it is really that much shorter than the other intake
lobes. Basically, if you take a look at this
camshaft, someone beat the heck out of it. There
is a large chip, stress cracking on all the lobe tips,
etc. However, I believe the cam guys can still
fix it from what I have discovered. And, it
might be worth saving since this camshaft is also a
spider drive.
- Another weird attribute of this cam is the #5
exhaust lobe, the pink curve with large squares.
Do you see the odd bump on the left side of the
lobe? Well, it's not dirt of any sort.
It's actually part of the cam. Anyone have any
thoughts on this except that the cam grinder who
ground this cam was related to our friend the Butcher
of Cylinder Heads?
- Lastly, in the second graph below, the variation of
lobe shapes within intakes and exhausts is much larger
than cam #1.
- And, once again, this camshaft has no identification
marks that make sense. The only markings are on
the end, "10H73." Anyone have any
ideas?
SUMMARY:
- Maybe this cam is worth repairing and regrinding...
we will see when I talk to a cam guy.
